Our Power, Our Planet: The World Celebrates Earth Day 2025
Tuesday 22nd April 2025 marks the 55th annual Earth Day and this year the theme is ‘Our Power, Our Planet,’ inviting everyone around the globe to unite behind renewable energy and triple the generation of clean electricity worldwide by 2030. Events will be taking place across the world to celebrate, including the Renewable Energy Institute’s informative webinar.
In support of Earth Day, a report has been released showing overwhelming support amongst business owners for a global energy transition to clean power. A survey of 1500 business executives across the world showed that 97% support the transition to renewable energy and 78% want this to take place within the next decade. A switch to renewable energy and other sustainability initiatives can bring a number of benefits to businesses, including economic and reputational advantages. The report also highlighted that 93% of businesses were considering on-site renewable energy projects and 90% consider renewable energy options to be a key factor in deciding where to invest. The businesses polled have called for governments across the world to remove barriers to the energy transition and provide policy and infrastructure support to help it become a reality. Amongst the requirements will also be a vast and highly-skilled renewable energy workforce.
