Lhyfe, one of the world’s pioneers in green hydrogen production, have entered an agreement with the leading refueling station developer H2 Mobility Deutschland. This 5-year deal will provide hydrogen for some of the company’s fuel stations in Germany, across the states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate, beginning with the sites Ludwigshafen and Frankenthal. According to the announcement, the total volume will reach more than 1,200 tonnes over the 5-year duration of the contract.

Luc Graré, Head of Central and Eastern Europe at Lhyfe, said: “This agreement is the realisation of Lhyfe and H2 MOBILITY’s shared ambition and common effort to make green hydrogen available in large volumes for the mobility sector, which is decarbonisation ready. With a reliable hydrogen supply and the necessary refueling infrastructure, this partnership enables a shift toward zero-carbon transport at a new scale for the region.”
These plans follow Lhyfe’s construction of a 10 MW (megawatts) hydrogen production plant in Schwaebisch Gmuend in October 2023. The company produces green and renewable hydrogen through the electrolysis of water, at production units powered by renewable energy. Since its launch in 2017, the company constructed its first site in 2021 and now has 4 installed sites and several sites currently being built across Europe. Lhyfe aims to become a key player in green hydrogen for mobility and industry by 2025, notably through customer deliveries in tube trailers.
Frank Fronzke, managing director and COO at H2 Mobility, said the deal advances the company’s objective to have green hydrogen throughout the entire H2 Mobility Deutschland network by 2028. “With this agreement the first brand new hydrogen refueling stations will provide green hydrogen from 2025 onwards,” he added.
Currently, the company’s network supports fuel cell vehicles, including passenger cars, smaller commercial vehicles, and refuse collectors, allowing them to refuel at 700 bar across approximately 80 public stations in Germany. Additionally, buses and trucks can refuel at 350 bar at 33 stations.
