The Renewable Energy Institute has announced the launch of the new Global Membership Programme for professionals and students to gain recognition in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Sector. The Programme rewards members who show a continuous commitment to professional development within the industry with the title of Mastership in Renewable Energy. The Programme responds to research calling for a better skilled workforce in order to meet the EU 2020 energy efficiency targets, undertaken by Build Up Skills UK, and it is operated by a global leader in Renewable Energy training, the Renewable Energy Institute. The Membership Programme aims to build on the REI’s experience and commitment to working with its partners to promote best practice in Renewable Energy educational activities, which include the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the intergovernmental IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP) and leading universities in Europe. The Programme supports and encourages professionals in pursuing Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in order to respond to the growing pace of change and increasing need for dialogue between professionals in the global Renewable Energy Sector. The Programme ensures that members keep up to date with increasing global demands and new innovations in the industry while remaining at the forefront of their fields.

Members have the opportunity to progress through the Programme and work towards the unique Mastership Status in Renewable Energy, by completing relevant activities pertaining to renewable energy learning. Members will also have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and skills through a network of industry experts, professionals and students, as well as further individual professional development within the sector. The Membership Programme, coordinated from the UK, will recognise existing expertise and qualifications within the sector and will evolve to consist of thousands of members worldwide. The Programme is designed to aid members’ career progression in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency industry by providing a recognisable status as evidence of experience in the sector. Membership includes affiliation to an international organisation with almost 40 years delivering excellence in Renewable Energy with a strong network of relationships with major global authorities and researchers in the field. Director of the REI Paolo Buoni has commented on the new scheme: “We are delighted to be able to support the launch of such an important Global Membership Programme which complements our goal of promoting best practice in Renewable Energy. We are looking forward to helping Renewable Energy professionals worldwide further their career progression within the sector.” For further information visit theect.org/membership-programme or contact membership@renewableinstitute.org Note to Editor: The Renewable Energy Institute is a global leader in Renewable Energy education and runs a series of classroom based and distance learning Renewable Energy training courses and conferences with the United Nations Environment Programme.
