Intergovernmental Organisation Partners with EEC

Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Learning Partnership to partner with global leader in training, European Energy Centre (EEC).

The EEC is a leading training provider in the Renewable Energy sector:

The European Energy Centre (EEC), global leader in renewable energy training and host of the 15th EU European Conference with UNITED NATIONS (UNEP), has announced they have entered into a partnership with the Abu Dhabi based IRENA Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP), who are funded and supported by governments of 160 countries worldwide, on a number of projects aimed at improving renewable energy education in Europe and across the world.

The new partnership brings together both organisation’s strengths and overarching goals to promote renewable energy training and education. The partnership will fill the gap of skilled professionals and workers in the renewable energy and energy efficiency fields as well as promoting best practice through several educational activities worldwide.

Utilising close links with various Universities and educational establishments, the EEC  and IRELP aim to assist with the establishment of renewable energy curriculum to allow for easier and broader dissemination of renewable energy knowledge in universities throughout the world.

Part of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) the organisation’s Renewable Energy Learning Partnership (IRELP) brings together governments and leading institutions in order to increase awareness, visibility and access to renewable energy education and training.

IRELP director Hugo Lucas spoke of his enthusiasm regarding the future for the partnership. “We are pleased to work with an established educational organisation like the EEC. The good work they do in promoting and developing renewable energy training and their work with leading universities and the United Nations UNEP is very important. We look forward to a positive future working together in order to tackle the renewable energy skills gap worldwide”.

For the European Energy Centre, the partnership adds to a long list of collaborations the EEC has with governments and institutions across Europe including the Scottish and Italian Governments, the European Commission and the intergovernmental organisation of International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) and AREA, who represent over 130,000 professionals in the sector.

Director of the EEC Paolo Buoni commented on the partnership; “The European Energy Centre has been promoting best practice with the United Nations, major universities and leading European and global organisations through classroom-based courses and distance learning for nearly 40 years. This new partnership we are creating with the authoritative organisation IRELP is confirming once again this commitment. The goals of IRELP are closely in line with the mission of the EEC.”

The EEC are global leaders in renewable energy training and run a series of classroom based renewable energy training courses as well as extending their range of distance learning courses. For more information regarding their courses visit www.EUenergycentre.org/training.
