In 2015, the topic of clean energy and a global sustainable future is at the forefront of people’s minds, both at a personal and organisational level. While it is clear that we will not be able to rely on fossil fuels for much longer, it is much harder to sift through the literature and statistics on the latest renewable low-carbon energy strategies in order to make an informed decision on the best route to investments. Every week it seems, we are told about the benefits of the newest technologies, we get updated on changes in government incentives, and receive conflicting information about Payback times and the long-term prospects for investments. Of course, it is important to be aware of the options available but it is becoming even more important now to know exactly which options to choose and when depending on the project or client. Whether to provide consultancy to others or to create a strategy for the energy security of homes and businesses long into the future, the next step for many professionals is, therefore, to learn the best applications of each low-carbon technology in order to gain sustainability – and ultimately, to save money! In order to help professionals make informed decisions regarding their low-carbon strategies, either through a combination of renewable energy or other energy-saving technologies, the Renewable Energy Institute (REI) will host the next Renewable Energy Solutions training course at the University of London. The course is organised in cooperation with leading universities and is aimed at professionals and consultants who need to make knowledgeable decisions on which technology will meet their specific needs or the needs of their clients. The workshop has been designed as a 2-day short intensive course for busy professionals. The course is delivered by a practical expert who has over 20 years of experience in the low-carbon sector and can advise on current government policies, support schemes and available software. The course includes a review of each technology, through Q&A sessions with the expert.
The REI is an independent educational body which has been in operation since 1975. The REI promotes best practice in renewable energy and energy efficiency through training courses and conferences with the United Nations (UNEP), intergovernmental organisations and 21 universities across Europe. For more information: Renewable Energy Institute (REI)
