REI Upskills Major Korean Power Company (KEWP) in Renewable Energy

Large Wind Power Turbine. Bespoke courses in Renewable Energy

The Renewable Energy Institute (REI) has been delighted to welcome the Korea East-West Power Company (KEWP) to London for a five-day Bespoke Course on Renewable Energy. The REI was chosen by KEWP, in its capacity of being an Accredited Training Centre which works closely with United Nations Environment (UNE) to promote best practice in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. South Korea has recently developed a plan to increase the country’s use of sustainable energy, aiming for it to make up 40% of the nation’s total energy supply by 2040. This means transforming a great deal of the country’s power production, which at this stage predominantly consists of coal and nuclear power. Introducing substantial changes to a country’s energy policy requires that all parts involved play their role in adapting their businesses to new procedures and technology. Therefore, the REI is pleased to see that Korea East-West Power Company is taking steps towards exploring sustainable energy alternatives and building up green infrastructure. By approaching the REI, KEWP has ensured that they receive training developed by top experts in the renewable energy field. The REI’s bespoke courses are tailored to optimise the needs of the individual organisation, by providing hands-on theoretical and practical knowledge.

“This is an exciting new era in South Korea’s energy development and the Renewable Energy Institute is very honoured to be a part of it. Working towards a future where sustainable energy is at the top of the agenda, is in all our best interests.” Director, Renewable Energy Institute (REI), Paolo Buoni

The five-day course for KEWP in London focussed on three main areas within the field of renewable energy: Solar Photovoltaics, Wind Power, and Energy Efficiency in Buildings. One of the REI’s esteemed researchers delivered the training in the most advanced technology in solar and wind power, including topics such as cost calculations, installation and maintenance. The Energy Efficiency in Buildings sessions covered the design and construction of buildings, as well as information about the latest energy modelling software. Participants from KEWP expressed that they found the speaker extremely knowledgeable, and that the insight into the UK’s policies surrounding renewable energies was especially valuable.
