GMC Certificate Achievers & REI Alumni Spotlight
IBM, Sri Sri-Jayantha
The REI Accredited Center is pleased to focus on the achievements of those who have attended REI courses and attained the internationally recognized Galileo Master Certificate to further their careers in the Green Energy sector. The REI this month is delighted to speak with IBM’s Sri Sri-Jayantha, who attended the Electric Vehicles course in New York City. This course is the first of its kind, bringing the acclaimed Electric Vehicles course to Manhattan.

1. Hi Sri: what is your current expertize and how does this relate to the Green Energy field? My background is in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with many years of experience in the computer industry, and I have worked with modeling and control of electromechancial systems for various applications. The recent emergence of Electric Vehicles provides a great opportunity for me to become immersed in a rapidly growing industry. 2. Why did you choose to train with the REI Accredited Center in New York City and take the exam for the internationally recognized Galileo Master Certificate? The emergence of renewable energy and the challenges posed by climate change drove me to look to tackle these issues to contribute to society, and I knew that REI courses provide a great starting point to broaden your knowledge in the areas of Sustainability and Renewable Energy.
“The presentation materials were well prepared, so I received the most up to date information possible supported by research data.” – IBM, Sri Sri-Jayantha
3. What are the skills that you gained with the REI Accredited Center? The Electric Vehicles course gives a thorough introduction to EVs, battery technology, EV business, economics, transportation policy and recharging infrastructure in an integrated way within two days. The presentation materials were well prepared, so I received the most up to date information possible supported by research data. I learned that currently the EV market makes up about 2% of all automotives in the US and is expected to reach 20-30% within a decade: this presents significant new job and learning opportunities for me. 4. How will you apply these skills to your career, either directly or indirectly? After taking the course it will now be easier for me to appreciate and understand new reading materials on Electric Vehicles and other Renewable Energy challenges. My goal is to educate the community by demystifying EV technology so that the transition from fossil fuel to Renewables is achieved before the effects of climate change become too severe, and the Electric Vehicles course has given me the knowledge to achieve this.
